It has been a while since the successful participation of Ghent University in the Solar Decathlon Europe 2019 competition. During the competition the enthusiastic student team from the faculty of Engineering and Architecture were awarded with no less than 5 prizes, among which the first prize for Engineering & Construction. The icing on the cake for all this effort, there is a large interest from companies to commercialise the Mobble project. A consortium existing out of Inhout, BAST architects & engineers, Strategies & Leaders, Ecopuur, Wooncoop and Ghent University has received funding of Flanders Circular to scale this concept industrially. In the meanwhile there are even some signed contracts for realisations with diverse typologies: terraced house, detached house and an annex. The flexibility, modularity and circularity of ‘The Mobble’ will be used, among other things, in Labland’s ‘Inschuifhuis’. UGhent-Mobblers of the first hour dra. eng. arch. Laura Landuyt and Prof. Nathan Van Den Bossche are very proud that their belief in the Mobble concept is confirmed and that the end of the competition does not mean the end of the Mobble story!
